Leaders as Their Best Selves (Part 1)

“Creativity is a calling. Innovation is a burning desire. Adaptability is personal trait.” –Nance Rosen

We oftentimes think of leaders as people who head organizations, teams, or communities merely because they are the top person in the organization.  In other words, we think leaders are such because of their position rather than their leadership talents.  The real leaders, however, are those who influence, those who attract followers because of their vision, and those who help others reach their natural potential.  This type of leader presents an alternate way of looking at leadership.

So let’s stretch our thinking about those who lead.  Let’s take a look at Creative Leaders and what makes them tick.

Creative leaders have 7 important characteristics.  They:

(1) are inspiring enthusiasts

(2) have strong convictions and move on them

(3) listen to their intuition

(4) generate many ideas

(5) tend toward a streak of non-conformity

(6) envision possibilities

(7) have charisma

Whether an artist, technology expert, designer, dancer, or storyteller, creative leaders have a burning desire to create and they lead with a strong self-belief that simply turns many of them into leaders in their chosen field.  We could all benefit from the innovative thinking of creative leaders.
