Have you derailed already? Did you start with what you intended to complete for 2016? Maybe you didn’t make resolutions. Maybe you don’t believe in resolutions. But many of us started this new year with formed ideas of what we want or need to accomplish throughout the year.
As you’re walking your path of 2017, remember you’re already 30 days in. Ask yourself “What has changed that will keep me going toward the accomplishments I have chosen?” OK – I admit, it is indeed a process. It is both a time and mindset commitment to move forward in new or different ways to reach goals that are important to you.
In Angela Duckworth’s 2016 book “Grit: The power of passion and perseverance”, she has developed a Grit Scale that you might want to check out. Duckworth maintains that a growth mindset leads to optimistic ways of explaining adversity, and that, in turn, leads to perseverance and seeking out new challenges that will ultimately give us hope for our future and make each of us stronger.
So…if you haven’t already started, begin now by gathering the passion and perseverance you need to move forward intentionally into this year with purpose and hope.
